Lory Winford

Lory is a pastel artist that creates paintings primarily using pastel on sand paper.

She enjoys painting landscape paintings and capturing light that moves around a composition.

Colors have always captured her interest and she is always working on ways to have

color speak out in her paintings. The Impressionist painters and their way with light

and texture has influenced Lory’s painting and learning from the beginning.

Lory is primarily self taught and over the years, has attended a few drawing and art classes

and she continues to work with artists whose work she admires through workshops.

Her lovely studio is a haven for creation and she prefers to work first thing in the morning,

or later in the evening. She schedules her days so that she has studio time in

the morning. Perhaps with reading a magazine featuring new techniques, sketching out an

idea for a painting or getting a new creative idea.

Lory feels each and everyday is different, and that lends it self to excitement, and a sense of

newness each time she picks up a pastel or walks in to her studio.
